New Yarn is icing on the cake for Marie Curie!

In our last blog post we mentioned that we would tell you more about our Marie Curie exclusive yarn.

If you are familiar with us already you will know that we are avid supporters of Marie Curie as they helped our family tremendously during our Mum's (Christine) final weeks with us back in 2008. Yours Magazine published our story which you can find on the Cityknits Facebook page if you would like to read a bit more detail.

Anyway, we are always looking at innovative ways to fundraise and the idea of a special yarn colour-way was born! We worked with our friends at West Yorkshire Spinners (WYS) and designed a very special limited edition colour-way Signature 4-ply yarn especially to raise funds for Marie Curie.

We launched the yarn at our Marie Curie Blooming Great Tea Party on 10thJune 2017, at Christine’s Wool Shop in Birmingham & it was an instant hit! We've sent parcels all over the UK & across the pond to the US and countries in between! We are delighted that folk love the yarn as much as us & are grateful for all the support we have received.

The yarn will only be available for sale through our Wool Shop in Bournville, Birmingham or through our online store www.cityknits.co.uk. The yarn retails at £7.20 per 100g ball and Cityknits will donate £2 to Marie Curie from each ball sold.

All monies raised will help Marie Curie Nurses to provide more free care to people with terminal illnesses in their own homes or at one of the charity’s hospices.

The award winning British Yarn, is a luxury blend of 75% wool – 25% wool. The wool content contains 35% luxurious Bluefaced Leicester making this one of the most sumptuous 4 Ply products on the market.

The yarn is a self-striping, printed yarn and has been uniquely created for Christine’s/ Cityknits by WYS to raise funds for Marie Curie.

We are delighted to have had so much support from the crafting community & we've seen some fab makes so far, you can check some of them out here, Lucy at Attic24 has been making socks; along with Winwick Mum, Crafternoon Treats & Sandra at Cherry Heart. Heather at The Patchwork Heart has started a virus shawl with our Marie Curie bundle pack which looks stunning!

Oh, the other big news is that we found out just before the tea party was that we have been nominated in the Lets Knit Awards again this year, if you can spare 5 mins we'd really appreciate your vote for the Best Independant in the Midlands & Best Yarn Shop Day experience.

Thanks for all your support, take care Caroline, Julie & Sally x
